Part of the East West culture is teamwork. And we put that ethic into action this past Sunday (March 5) when a group of East Westerners participated in the 33rd Annual Hunger Walk/Run to benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB).
The 5K walk started at Turner Field, the former home of the Atlanta Braves, and passed along the fringe of downtown Atlanta, cutting into the historic Grant Park neighborhood before finishing up at Turner Field. We had walkers (wearing the purple shirts) and runners (in orange), and it was an absolutely perfect day, weather-wise.
There's a fundraising component to this event as well. With only a month of prep time, our group raised just over $2,600, which was doubled by our generous company. All told, EW raised $5270 to help feed hungry people in our community.
The work of the ACFB is truly inspiring. Because they are so efficient, they will be able to provide 21,080 meals for Georgians in metro Atlanta area and north Georgia with the money raised by East West.
It was a great way to give back to our community, to get some exercise and sunshine, and to further build the East West team.
