Engineering, Incoterms and DFM: Our Top Blog Posts for 2016

Written by Patty Rasmussen | December 29, 2016

It's been a busy year on the East West blog. We've tried to share content that answers your questions about product manufacturing and engineering. We've sought to pique your interest, and keep you reading and looking for more. As we put 2016 in the rear view mirror, we thought we'd take a look back at the most read blog posts of the year.

Top Engineering Websites for Engineers

This compilation of some of the best engineering websites for engineers has been viewed hundreds of times since it was first posted in September 2016. We polled East West engineers to find out where they go when they have engineering questions. If you haven't bookmarked this post yet, you might want to do that right now. And be sure to read the comments section. Some of our readers shared their favorite sites as well.

A Beginner's Guide to ICC Incoterms 2010 [Chart]

Who doesn't love an easy-to-read chart?

It seems many of our blog readers have found this chart of ICC Incoterms to be a useful guide to the sometimes confusing world of international shipping and logistics. First published in summer of 2015, A Beginner's Guide remains one of our most popular posts. It describes what Incoterms are and why they're important, then helpfully defines what each acronym stands for and what it means to the buyer and the seller. With that sort of actionable information, it's no wonder the post has received so many visits.

What is Design for Manufacturing or DFM?

This post gets at the heart of what we do at East West Manufacturing so it's not surprising it's among the top blog posts of 2016. DFM is the process of designing or engineering a product (or parts of products) so that it's easy to produce at the lowest possible price. The post shares two questions that you need to ask and the key principles in the DFM process. There's a downloadable guide — 5 Things to Look for in a DFM Partner — included in the post, too.

So those are a few of our most read blog posts. In my opinion, each of them is worth another visit, and probably a bookmark. In the coming weeks and months, we'll be sharing great information about everything from EC motors, to metal casting for robotics, to electronics related to the always expanding Internet of Things. We appreciate your interest and input, so please let us know if there are topics you'd be interested in learning more about in the comment section below.

Happy New Year!  Wishing you a healthy & prosperous 2017!
